I signed up for 2 10k races. To be honest, I have never trained seriously. To me, a run is just, put on my running shoes, hit the track and just run.

Actually, the way you run is important too. How you propel yourself forward for maximum efficiency, how to run to minimize injuries — it all boils down to good running form.

After a fairly recent health scare, I started running to lose the excess weight I'd gained with my first pregnancy. 12 years after giving birth to my first child, I finally reached a healthy weight.
