Weather was good this morning. For once, it wasn’t raining buckets. Yet I overslept. By the time I got up, it was 8:30am on a particularly sunny morning.
I ran. The full 10k I look forward to each weekend, ignoring the sun’s blazing heat that grew stronger by the minute and blazing hot by the time I finished. Ok, as a precaution, I always drink a glass of water before leaving home for my run. Today, I wished I’d drunk two.
Felt great after the run. Hubby brought me on a lunch date at Hans. After running 10k, I could afford a proper meal, calories-wise, that is.
My choice? Roast chicken. Chicken and fish are great sources of lean protein.
Most of the fat in chicken is found beneath the skin. If I were serious about losing weight, I would have skipped the skin and eaten the meat only.
I wasn’t. So I ate the chicken, skin and all, the brocolli and cauliflower. As for the fries, I ate a few but skipped the rest. Fries are potatoes soaked in oil. Deep fried carbs are a comfort food that is extremely fattening. Everything in moderation but I’ll save those calories for stuff I really love. Fries don’t rank that high on my must eat list.
The chicken was good. Melt in your mouth tender. I loved the oily fatty skin best though. It tasted like it was marinated in soy sauce.
Lean meat, veggies and some carbo. That’s a reasonably healthy meal. Could use more brocolli though.
