<p>When I first embarked on my portion control diet, I was vigilant about my weekly weigh ins. Every week on the same day, I would get on the digital scale at the gym before eating or drinking anything at the start of the day.</p>

<p>I lost about 9kg over the vigilant weeks.</p>
<p>Then I took it easy. Stopped the weigh ins and was more liberal with my diet, thinking the added exercise from dance classes and runs will make up for it.</p>
<p>Boy was I wrong.</p>
<p>After about a month or two, I got on the scale. To my horror, I had gained 3kg of the hard lost weight.</p>
<p>By not weighing myself weekly, I failed to notice the weight creeping back. Got complacent. Undid the good from the disciplined weeks.</p>
<p>I should have gotten a bathroom scale and weighed myself weekly, to keep track of my weight all the time, so I wouldn&#8217;t have ended up gaining so much.<br />

<p>Here&#8217;s how to do this quick and easy microwaved meal.</p>
<p>Spread baking paper over a microwavable plate.</p>
<p> Chop half a zuchinni and one washed potato with the skin on.</p>
<p>Place the fully thawed, marinated pork on the paper.<br />Add on baby carrots, zuchinni and potato.</p>
<p>Sprinkle with mixed herbs.</p>
<p>Add a dollop of minced garlic and minced shallots if you like.</p>
<p>Drizzle a little olive oil.</p>

<p class='bloggerplus_text_section' align='left'>Today, I put marinated pork softened with a tenderizer in baking paper. Chopped 1 small potato and a small box of baby bell peppers. Sprinkled seasoning of garlic and herbs over everything, with a little salt. Wrapped everything in baking paper and microwaved it.</p>
<p class='bloggerplus_text_section' align='left'>The pork was frozen and I mistook it for chicken so I microwaved it for 10 minutes on medium. It was still pink and raw on the inside when I took it out and realized my mistake. </p>
<p>Sealed and stapled everything again and microwaved another 4 minutes on high.</p>
<p>It was just right. That was my yummy healthy lunch for today.</p>

I hate to say this but Dr Atkins wasn&#8217;t that long lived..  A protein only diet is hard on the kidneys. Some carbs in the form of whole grains would be healthier in the long run.</p>
<p>Besides, you need the serotonin that carbs afford for mental well-being.</p>
<p>That said, a protein rich diet that is well balanced goes a long way in helping you maintain your weight. You don&#8217;t get hungry so easily and protein is harder to convert to fat than sugars.</p>
<p>Eggs are a cheap source of protein, vitamin and mineral. These contain all the food an unborn chick requires so eat your eggs.</p>

<div class="bloggerplus_image_section">Duck isn&#8217;t as healthy as chicken when it comes to weight loss diets. Duck meat has more fat than chicken meat. I had smoked duck salad on top of it but boy was it delicious!</div>
<p class="bloggerplus_text_section">This salad was basically slices of smoked duck and peeled mandarin orange, accompanied by cashew nuts, sprinkled with wolf berries on a bed of lettuce. Orange vinaigrette completed the salad.</p>

Food is cooked through the steam formed when the water in the food is heated up through microwaves. No oil is needed.</p>
<p class='bloggerplus_text_section' align='left'>Today, I had chicken breast, broccoli, carrots and potatoes for lunch, cooked using the microwave oven.</p>

<p class='bloggerplus_text_section' align='left'>I placed 100g of chicken breast in baking paper and rolled it in dried herbs. Then I chopped 1 small potato and 1 carrot. Sprinkled salt and more herbs, wrapped that up and stapled it to seal it in. Microwaved the package for 8 minutes on high heat.</p>
<p>Then I microwaved a cup of broccoli on high for 2 minutes and sprinkled herbs and sea salt.</p>
<p>For the dressing, mixed balsamic vinegar and olive oil with herbs.</p>
<p>Verdict : a decently filling and tasty meal that&#8217;s very healthy.</p>

<p>If you can get sashimi salad, go for it but skip any creamy dressing. Raw salmon or raw tuna on a bed fresh greens sans salad dressing makes a great low carb meal.</p>
<p>Fast food being bad for the diet isn&#8217;t fully accurate. My favorite fast food joint for a healthy diet meal is<br />

<p>The grilled chicken salad is a great low carb diet meal as long as you don&#8217;t use any of the thousand island dressing. The chicken alone is tasy enough. Eat the lettuce with a little chicken in every bite for a satisfying meal.</p>
<p>Soft drinks are laden with hidden carbohydrates. Even the green tea has diet busting sugar in it so accompany your meal with plain water. That has zero calories.</p>

<p>I like soup spoon. 1 small soup makes a great meal. Skip the sides and the bread if you are serious about losing weight.</p>
<p>You can eat out and stick to your diet as long as you make smart meal choices.</p>
